ADR-0016: BR (Believer’s Responsibility) resource class

Context

First non-canonical UC source to be ingested: The Believer’s Responsibility — A Populist Approach to Church Growth by Tyler Hendricks (2010). Per ADR-0003, a new resource class requires its own ADR + CONTEXT.md citation grammar entry before ingestion.

Decision

  • Class code: BR
  • Path: /resources/Believers-Responsibility/
  • File granularity: one file per chapter (per ADR-0004). 9 files total: intro + 8 chapters.
  • Filenames: slug-style (per ADR-0008 example), e.g. 00-introduction.md, 01-church-growth-begins-with-god.md. Book name dropped from filename since folder already encodes it.
  • Citation form: [[Believers-Responsibility/{chapter-slug}#heading-anchor|{heading-anchor}]]
  • Class category: UC secondary literature — UC-aligned writing by UC members/leaders, distinct from canonical works (DP, CSG, SMM speeches). Future books in the same category get their own short codes (e.g. eventual ADRs for other Hendricks works or other UC authors).

Alternatives considered

  • Umbrella class UC-Secondary with sub-paths per book: rejected — flatter structure (each book = own class code) matches existing pattern (DP, CSG, Bible are all peers, not children of a “Canon” umbrella).
  • Keep verbose filenames (Believers Responsibility - 1 - Church Growth Begins with God.md): rejected per ADR-0008’s slug-style convention; spaces in wikilinks work but read poorly, and the redundant book name in path+filename was clutter.
  • Page-number anchors (#p7): rejected per ADR-0015 — OCR page boundaries are not semantic.

Consequences

  • (+) Citation grammar table now has a worked example for “UC secondary literature” — future additions (Purpose-Driven-Church, 365-Tao, etc.) follow the same pattern with their own ADRs
  • (+) Slug filenames keep URLs clean on the published site (/resources/Believers-Responsibility/01-church-growth-begins-with-god/)
  • (−) The other already-present folders (365-Tao, Purpose-Driven-Church, Youtube) need their own ADRs before they can be ingested — deferred until needed
