Question. The four-position foundation is one of the most repeated concepts in Divine Principle and CSG, yet its standard presentation is dense and abstract (vertical axis, sphere-formation, three-object purpose). Is there an ELI5-level entry point that communicates the same structure to someone with no theological background?
Why it matters. Every Blessed couple is implicitly living the four-position foundation. If the concept can only be explained in academic language, it stays in the classroom and never reaches everyday members — or seekers. A simple on-ramp would make the concept teachable in a 2-minute conversation.
Current best guesses.
- The family diagram angle: every person is born into three roles simultaneously (child of your parents, sibling of your brothers/sisters, future spouse/parent). The four-position foundation is just the claim that God wants to stand at the center of all three. That’s it.
- The love-types angle: there are four kinds of love you can only know in a family — parental love, children’s love, conjugal love, sibling love. The four-position foundation is the structure that makes all four available to one person in one lifetime.
- Neither framing has been tested against a real newcomer. Worth drafting a 3-sentence version and stress-testing it.
