Question. SMM says NT believers are “adopted children” with a “different lineage” and that the Blessing changes this lineage. But what is the mechanism? Is the lineage change (a) a literal biological-spiritual change of blood passed to physical descendants, (b) a covenantal/legal re-grafting with immediate spiritual effect, or (c) something that takes multiple generations to fully actualize?

Why it matters. SMM mentions in 4.1 that “God wants to bring you into unity after three generations” and that “the tradition will be established by the third generation.” This suggests the lineage change may be generational rather than instantaneous — which has pastoral implications for first-generation Blessed couples and their children. Understanding the mechanism shapes how UC members think about their own spiritual standing and their children’s.

Current best guesses. The “three generations” language hints at gradual actualization. The engrafting metaphor (Romans 11) suggests legal/covenantal re-rooting. CSG Ch03 does not resolve the mechanism directly — this likely requires reading DP’s section on the change of lineage alongside SMM’s Blessing and Ideal Family speeches.
