Claim. God created Adam and Eve as visible substantial parents through whom God’s invisible parenthood could take physical form.
Elaboration. SMM gives two purposes for creating Adam and Eve: “first of all, to have physical form” and “secondly… to perfect love” (CSG 4.1 §4, Blessed Family 307). If they had perfected love, God could have resided with them as “the parent of perfected love to humanity,” while Adam and Eve reproduced children and realized the ideal world. The section also links this to the two worlds: through human beings, “the spirit world and the physical world are connected.” The Fall thwarted this plan, but the original claim is clear: God’s invisible fatherhood was meant to be historically visible through Adam and Eve’s perfected family and lineage.
