Claim. Heaven is conditional on the mind defeating the body in the post-Fall lifelong conflict; the spirit is subject and the flesh is object, and that ordering must be restored on earth.
Elaboration. SMM frames the inner conflict as a literal battle: “Your inner person and outer person are in conflict… If God had created human beings in that way, then He would not be a god with a single purpose but a god with dual purposes… we know that we were not originally created in this way. Let us, therefore, cast our body aside and seek our original mind” (3.3. Inner person and outer person, 44-194, 1971.5.7). The future direction follows: “When you triumph over both past and present by upholding the standard of mind over matter, your future will be blessed” (3.4. The purpose of life on earth is mind-body perfection, 73-96, 1974.8.4). The mind represents the past (the spirit, eternal) and the body the present (the flesh, finite); both worlds were invaded at the Fall, but the restoration order requires the mind to lead. A life whose body has dominated the mind cannot enter the realm of God’s love.
