Claim. The forbidden fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is not a literal fruit but Eve’s sexual organ — capable of bearing the seed of a king or the seed of a thief, depending on whom she joins to.
Elaboration. §1.2 develops one of SMM’s most distinctive exegetical claims. “What is the fruit of good and evil? It becomes good if you enter into a relationship with a good man: if you marry a king, you’ll give birth to a prince, but if you marry a gangster boss, you’ll give birth to a future gangster boss. That is what the fruit of good and evil is: the thing that is able to bear the fruit of good or evil is the female sexual organ” (1.2. The fruit of good and evil is Eve’s sexual organ, 284-137, 1997.4.16). The literal-fruit reading is rejected on common-sense grounds: “Would God chase them away because they ate a literal fruit?… He isn’t such an irresponsible God” (ibid, 279-106, 1996.8.1). The covering-of-genitals after the Fall is the corroborating evidence: “why did they cover their sexual parts? They could have covered their mouths or their hands” (ibid, 202-199, 1990.5.24). The implication is that the entire scriptural account of the Fall is a coded sexual narrative, and that the recovery of its literal-bodily meaning is part of SMM’s revelatory contribution.
