Claim. Even the absolute God requires an object partner for true love, so creation exists for love rather than for knowledge, money, or power.
Elaboration. SMM contrasts God’s absolute power with God’s one absolute need: “There is only one thing that God absolutely requires… true love” (CSG 4.1 §2, Blessed Family 302). God does not need knowledge, money, or power, because these already belong to Him as Creator. Love is different: “He needed an object partner with whom to share true love.” A second passage states the creation motive more sharply: God created human beings “because that was the only way God could love” (137-57, 1985.12.18). The parent-child axis between God and human beings is therefore not decorative theology; it is the relational condition under which God’s love becomes actual.
