Elaboration. SMM describes God’s love by analogy to a beautiful spring day where life awakens and one wants to remain forever (CSG 4.4 §4, Blessed Family 1062). When God finds His ideal object partner, He experiences that delight. SMM then says God’s love exceeds all worldly comparison: one who truly tastes it cannot be defeated by “difficulty or sorrow” (39-240, 1971.1.15). The doctrinal summary is compact: “God’s love can largely be divided into three great forms of love. They are parental love, conjugal love, and children’s love. The center where these three forms converge into one is God’s love” (173-278, 1975.11.23). The family is where that divine center becomes experiential.
