Claim. Human beings are resultant beings born from God’s love and for His love, not causal beings who originate themselves; recognizing this asymmetry is the precondition for any coherent doctrine of God.

Elaboration. “Born as resultant beings, those who do not know the causal being, but who yet assert themselves as wise, are all out of their minds” (2.1. Human beings was born from God’s love, 83-191, 1976.2.8). The reason God created human beings was love: “God requires an object of His love, and thus He created human beings in order to fulfill this” (ibid, 130-44, 1983.12.11). The argumentative move is genealogical: “Before you existed, your father and mother already existed … if you were to go further than your mother and father up your genealogy, would you not eventually arrive at God?” (ibid, 188-190, 1989.2.26). The implication: ontology recapitulates kinship — to deny one’s parental antecedents (ultimately God) is to deny one’s own grounds for existence.
