Claim. SMM’s ultimate soteriological claim is a reversal of the conventional frame: the consummation of the providence of salvation is not God rescuing humans but humans liberating God — and God cannot accomplish this alone.

Elaboration. The reversal is stated flatly: “Instead of trying to be saved, we must make God free. This is the consummation of the providence of salvation” (5.2.-god-s-liberation-is-a-task-for-humankind, 136-263, 1985.12.29). The basis: “I asked God, ‘What is it that You like most?’ He answered, ‘It is liberation.’ So I asked, ‘Why can’t You attain liberation?’ And He said, ‘I cannot do it alone’” (ibid, 166-99, 1987.5.30).

The logic follows from csg-god-cannot-punish-satan-unilaterally: because God bears partial responsibility in the Fall and cannot self-initiate Satan’s accusation, only humans who have achieved the conditions of restoration can act as the necessary third party. “God’s liberation is a task for humankind” — not because God is weak, but because the procedure of just restoration requires an innocent human mediator.

The practical stakes are explicit: “Liberating humanity is easy, but liberating God is difficult” (ibid, 136-285, 1985.12.29). This reorients believers’ motivation from personal salvation to cosmic repair — the Unification Church’s stated reason for existence.
