Claim. Love comes before life, so human life should be born, lived, and spent for love.

Elaboration. SMM asks whether life or love comes first and answers: “Love comes first, then life” (CSG 4.4 §1, Blessed Family 1062). Because what comes second surrenders to what comes first, it is natural to offer life for love. Human beings are not born by their own choice or merely by parental wish; they are born through parental love that represents God’s love. The highest purpose of life is therefore “to be born through love, be raised in love, live by love, and to leave love behind.” The family is where the central rules of universal love are fulfilled, because love becomes generative only through spouses and children.
