Claim. The atmosphere one breathes in the spirit world is love itself; those who never developed a love-respiratory organ on earth cannot survive there.
Elaboration. SMM is literal about the atmosphere: “Love is the air you breathe in the spirit world. Only by establishing the way of love can you become the substantiation of hope longed for by God throughout history and be welcomed everywhere you go in Heaven” (3.8.1. The air of the spirit world is love, 143-71, 1986.3.15). “How is the spirit world structured? Its air is love. Love serves as air. On earth, your mind and body must experience the sensations of love as the elements that can be harmonized. Once you create the sphere of experiencing those elements, there is nowhere you cannot communicate with each other instantly” (ibid, 162-287, 1987.4.17). Family is therefore “the training school enabling you to go to heaven” — a literal training organ for the lungs of love. People who passed earth without breathing love cannot suddenly start in the next world; the rules of organ-formation already closed.
