Elaboration. §4.5 mounts an argument against modern sex education from biological universality. “Sex education is unnecessary. People talk of free sex and sex education, but I say, ‘You crazy fools, stop!’ Is there sex education in the animal kingdom? When they are next to each other, they fit together naturally… Are the magnets forced to match their poles with the North Pole and the South Pole, or do they do so automatically?” (4.5. Love is not known through being taught, 272-91, 1995.8.30). Even microscopic life follows: “Nowadays it is said that even germs exist as couples… Even something microscopic like that knows how to fit its sexual organ into its mate’s. Would it have to be taught how to do so?” (ibid, 272-74, 1995.8.30). The implication is that the modern explosion of sex education and “free sex” both arise from the same root failure: humans have lost the natural literacy with which Adam and Eve were to read the museum of love for themselves.
