Elaboration. SMM asks whether man and woman love according to “the model of love in God’s mind” and concludes that if the first man and woman had become one in God’s love, “their love would have become the universal model of love” (CSG 4.5 §1, Blessed Family 334). He calls such true-love “the core of the universe” and “the standard of measurement.” Because God is the source of dual-characteristics, the man-woman union manifests more than human companionship: when God’s beloved man and woman embrace, heaven and earth rejoice and the universe unifies. Original conjugal love is thus cosmic in scope before it is private in experience.
