Claim. The greatest parental inheritance is not property or status but God’s love transmitted through true parental love.

Elaboration. SMM asks, “what is the best thing in the universe?” and answers that children should inherit God’s love and “the true love of their parents” (CSG 4.9 §2, 136-124, 1985.12.22). Truth is centered on parents, spouse, children, and love; it is not an abstract possession detached from relationship. Parents therefore educate most truly when children see them loving the village, nation, and world, not only their own household. This makes inheritance public as well as intimate: the child receives a lineage of love that expands beyond family self-interest.
