Claim. Because Eve deceived God, husband, and son into the Fall, restoration required women — Rebecca, Tamar, Mary — to symmetrically “deceive” three men in restoring the lineage; their morally-irregular acts are providential indemnity, not ethical lapses.
Elaboration. SMM constructs the pattern as numerical symmetry: “Eve deceived three men. Rebecca also deceived three men. She deceived God, her husband, and her son… Tamar also deceived three men: her father-in-law, and his first and second sons. Whom did Mary deceive? God, her father, and her future husband. It is the same pattern” (1.1. The Fall of Eve, and Rebecca’s and Tamar’s deceptions, 215-98, 1991.2.6). Genesis 25:23 anchors the lineage-restoration in the womb: “God said to Rebecca, ‘Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples, born of you, shall be divided’” (1.2. Fundamental restoration in the womb, through Tamar, 36-251, 1970.12.6). And the four-women genealogy of Matt. 1 — Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba — is read as confirming the formula: “Without understanding the Principle view of the Fall, there is no way to understand this. It has remained a mystery” (1.1. The Fall of Eve, and Rebecca’s and Tamar’s deceptions, 211-137, 1990.12.30).
