Claim. Rebirth (per Jesus to Nicodemus) is operationally a wild-olive-to-true-olive engrafting: not mere conviction but a structural transfer of the rootstock.
Elaboration. SMM ties the engrafting metaphor (Rom 11) to Jesus’ “you must be born again” (John 3): “Christians today are adopted sons and daughters. Adopted children come from a different bloodline. … Even if your faith was reaffirmed through the providence of God, you need to be engrafted to be restored as His children” (2.2. The core of providential rebirth, Blessed Family 509). The engrafting must reach the root: “you cannot just cut off the branch and engraft the sprout there; you must cut off the wild olive tree at the base so that only the roots remain, and engraft the sprout there. This means that when the Lord at his Second Advent comes to this world the existing churches should change their old systems, organizations, and rituals, and start new” (ibid, Blessed Family 510). The believer’s task is therefore not assent to doctrine but acceptance of a graft, with True Parents as the new root.
