Elaboration. SMM makes the trial language operative: “Have you ever thought that an order to appear before the court of judgment in the spirit world would come to you? Someday, that order will be given. To administer and manage that court, there must be a judge, a prosecutor, and a defense attorney. Then who will they be? The judge is God, the prosecutor is Satan, and the defense attorney is Jesus” (2.13. Judgment, 17-176, 1966.12.18). Functionally Satan must release his accusation: “Without obtaining the endorsement of the prosecutor in court, you cannot be released. Without Satan’s approval, God does not say, ‘You are my child. Let me save you!’ You must absolutely get Satan’s approval” (2.2. Prepare a passport to Heaven, 17-124, 1966.12.11). This reframes restoration: salvation is not God overriding Satan but Satan being forced to release his claim through the believer’s loving conduct.
