Elaboration. SMM asks what is holiest and answers: “true-love is the holiest thing in world. True love originates with God” (CSG 4.5 §6, Blessed Family 380). He describes the five senses colored, intoxicated, and harmonized by true love, because God created human beings as partners through whom He could experience such beauty. If God’s true love had been perfected, God would have been “totally absorbed by true love” without regret, and human life would be free from war, complaint, and misfortune. The section’s sensuous language is not incidental: true love is not merely moral correctness but whole-person participation in God’s joy.
