The deeper objection appears in Section 8: democracy is structurally a sibling arrangement. ‘Since there are many brothers, in order to appoint a representative to receive the inheritance, they must get together and choose the one who sacrifices more, serves more, and can better uphold the tradition. But parents are not elected. ‘Do you choose your parents through an election? Could you choose the returning Lord through an election? Could you choose God through an election? You could not.’
Democracy is further charged with creating ‘an atmosphere of distrust’ because individuals ‘do all kinds of things for their own personal gain… using money and utilizing networks to slander others and plot against them.’
This is one of the more politically charged passages in CSG and the implications are non-trivial: if the age of the parent supersedes democracy, what governance form replaces it? The text gestures at ‘one right of kingship’ under restored Adam but does not specify mechanism. The position has clear affinities with monarchical and theocratic frames, and stands in significant tension with UC’s own engagement with American democracy via media properties and political conferences.
