Claim. The purpose of creation, and of our lives, is to live attending God at the center — even in mundane moments.
Elaboration. The pastor quotes Holy Mother Han: ‘The kingdom we are seeking is a kingdom in which we are to live attending God at the center’ (Transcript, 54:17–54:42). She grounds it in the purpose of creation itself: ‘The world God created was so that he could be with us. That was God’s purpose … and so our purpose too … is to be with God’ (ibid, 56:22–56:42). Attending God is not reserved for prayer times; citing Mother Han again — ‘we shouldn’t forget about our heavenly parent in our daily life’ — she asks whether we remember God ‘when you’re cleaning up a mess in the kitchen, when you’re … getting dressed for the day’ (ibid, 57:46–58:09).
Significance. The whole point of everything, she insists, flows from this first thing: a life lived with God, moment to moment.
