Claim. The messiah cannot leap directly to global victory but must subjugate Satan and pave a road of victory sequentially on the individual, family, tribal, national, and worldwide levels.

Elaboration. SMM lays out the schema cleanly: “first, he must pave the road for individuals; second, he must pave the road for families; third, he must pave the road for nations; and fourth, he must pave the road for the world” (2.3. The mission of the Messiah). On each level the Messiah must “eradicate Satan’s lineage” and establish a victorious foundation that prior providential figures (Jacob over the angel, Abel over Cain) only partially achieved.

The sequencing matters because Satan also holds territory at every level — Satan has families, tribes, nations, and global sovereignty. Subjugating Satan therefore cannot be a single act; it requires winning back each level by establishing a corresponding true counterpart. After individual victory, Satan mobilizes worldwide opposition (“the nations and the democratic world will join forces to attack him”) — the persecution UC experienced in its first decades is read here as theological signature rather than political mishap.

A concrete corollary: “a representative nation is needed at the front. This nation is Korea.” The staged-victory schema thus terminates not in an abstract triumph but in a specific national vessel through which the global victory is launched. This grounds UC’s distinctive Korean providential nationalism — Korea is not chosen by ethnic merit but by providential position as the nation where the Messiah must establish his national-level foundation before extending to the world.

The schema also explains why UC growth strategy historically privileged building family-level foundations (Blessed couples) and then national-level foundations (church organizations, media, political and cultural front groups) rather than mass spiritual-conversion campaigns alone. The growth pattern is meant to mirror the messianic course itself. Critics in the ecclesiology and sociology of religion lane typically engage on whether the schema is genuinely predictive or retrospectively rationalizes whatever the movement does next.
