REVIEW — batch-001

Source: /resources/Believers-Responsibility/00-introduction.md (cleaned, ingested 2026-05-19)

Atomization scope: I extracted 3 atomics from the intro, not 5. Intros are previews — the deep claims belong in the chapters where they’re argued. I deferred two candidate atomics (populist-form-correlates-with-growth, vessels-of-clay framing) to chapters where they’ll be argued at length.

Produced

/reference/

  1. believers-responsibility-as-third-providential-phase.md — the DP-anchored thesis about ordinary believers as the third providential agent
  2. uc-began-on-populist-organizational-model.md — Hendricks’s historical claim about UC’s founding pattern
  3. evangelism-as-root-of-peace-building.md — the book’s central apologetic against the “growth vs peace” framing

/glossary/

  1. believers-responsibility.md — the central term; will be heavily referenced

New tags requested

The atomics currently use only registered tags (providence, true-parents, family). I’m flagging concept-gaps where I felt the absence of a useful tag — your call whether to add now, defer, or skip:

Proposed tagJustificationRecommendation
believers-responsibilityCentral concept in BR book AND DP teaching; will appear in many atomicsAdd now
populismHendricks’s term for the organizational pattern; recurs throughout BR (8 chapters)Add now
evangelismCore UC practice; will appear in many atomics across many sourcesAdd now
church-growthEmpirical / pastoral theme; BR-wide and beyondAdd now
peace-building / world-peaceUC’s stated mission; will recur widelyAdd one (probably world-peace)
ecclesiologyMeta-theme: theology of the church itselfDefer — speculative until I see more notes using it
providential-eraPeriodization of providence (DP concept)Defer — wait until we see CSG/DP atomics use this lens

If you approve, I’ll add to _meta/tags.md in the same commit when this batch finalizes.

Suspected duplicates

None — first batch.

Proposed work

Open questions raised

  1. [critical] Hendricks asserts DP teaches that the believer’s responsibility is to defeat Satan. What does DP itself say about the mechanism by which believers defeat Satan? Trace once DP is ingested. Specific source to check: EDP p. 186 and surrounding context.

  2. [interesting] The “third responsibility” framing implies a periodization of providence (God → Jesus/Holy Spirit → People of Faith). Is this periodization grounded in DP itself, or is it Hendricks’s gloss on a DP passage? Distinguishing the two matters for how much weight to give the periodization.

  3. [minor] Hendricks coins “populist” from an Encarta dictionary definition and applies it to ecclesiology. Is there an existing Korean UC term that maps to this concept, or is “populist” a new framing Hendricks introduces? Worth a glossary footnote.

Proposed threads

None yet — 3 atomics is not enough to cluster. Re-evaluate after batch-003 or so.

Stale wrestling

How to review

  1. Open staging/batch-001/ in Obsidian or VS Code
  2. Read each atomic. Edit in place if claim is off or elaboration drifts. Reject (delete) what isn’t actually atomic.
  3. Read the glossary entry. Confirm definition is accurate to UC usage.
  4. Decide on the 5 new tags above.
  5. When ready, say “approved” (with any edits noted) and I’ll:
    • Move accepted files from /staging/batch-001/ to their final folders (/reference/, /glossary/)
    • Update _meta/tags.md with approved new tags
    • Manually validate the glossary ## Referenced by matches the atomics (pre-commit hook isn’t built yet — that’s Phase 2)
    • Commit as one atomic batch

If anything is wrong, point and I’ll revise without finalizing.
