Summary. Abraham (Genesis 12-25), summoned from Ur to Canaan, becomes in DP the central figure of the third great providential dispensation after Adam and Noah. His symbolic offering (Genesis 15) failed and required indemnity, but the offering of Isaac (Genesis 22) restored the foundation of faith on which Jacob and Moses would build. He is treated as the ancestor of the chosen lineage through which the Messiah would eventually come.
