Question. DP Ch 5B explicitly claims “only in Western Europe has the history of this era progressed strictly according to the pattern set by the providence of restoration.” How does DP account for the post-1900 explosion of Christianity in Africa, Latin America, and Asia — which has shifted Christianity’s demographic center away from Western Europe and into the global South? Does DP read this shift as providence’s re-centering (in which case the Western-Europe claim was time-bounded), or as Satan-precedence counterfeit Christianity (in which case the global-South church is unprincipled), or as Western-Christianity’s global propagation (in which case the center is still Western Europe culturally)?
Why it matters. Load-bearing for DP’s eschatology. DP’s prolongation-age cascade (1517 Reformation → 1789 French Revolution → 1917-1918 WWI-completion) depends on Western-Europe-centrism for its periodization to hold. If the demographic shift toward the global South contradicts DP’s framework, the prolongation-age periodization breaks. If the shift fulfills DP’s framework via providence re-centering to a specific non-Western location, the periodization preserves but Western-Europe-centrism becomes time-bounded.
Answer (Ch 2-7 §3). DP’s commitment is time-bounded re-centering: Western-Europe-centrism was the providential structure through 1918, after which providence re-centered to Korea for the Second Advent. Four converging atomics from Ch 7 §3 establish this.
Per dp-second-advent-nation-is-in-the-east-and-must-be-korea (Ch 7 §§3.2–3.3): the Second Advent nation is in the East — derived from 2 (“another angel ascend from the rising of the sun, with the seal of the living God”). Among the three Eastern nations, Japan (fascist-Amaterasu, Christianity-persecutor) and China (communist) fell to Satan’s side; only Korea remains. This explicitly displaces the Western-Europe-as-providential-center claim from the SA-locus question — the Second Advent nation is not in Western Europe.
Per dp-korea-as-third-israel-prepared-by-forty-year-japanese-colonial-indemnity (Ch 7 §3.3.1): Korea fulfilled the Third Israel cosmic-level Satan-separation through the 1905–1945 Japanese colonial period. The First Israel (Jewish people) and Second Israel (Christian people, providentially centered in Western Europe through 1918) gave way to the Third Israel (Korean people). The succession is explicit: providence migrates from Jewish → Western-Christian → Korean.
Per dp-thirty-eighth-parallel-as-providential-cain-abel-frontline-and-korean-war-as-world-conflict (Ch 7 §3.3.2): the providential front line between God and Satan at the Last Days is at the 38th parallel — in Korea, not in Western Europe. The Korean War (not a Western European conflict) was the worldwide collision of democracy and communism.
Per dp-korea-as-culmination-of-all-civilizations (Ch 7 §3.3.5): three independent providential cycles (land-form, sea-tier, climate-zone) all converge on the Korean peninsula. The land-form cycle explicitly passes through Western Europe (Greece-Rome-Iberia peninsular phase → British island phase → United States continental phase → Japanese island phase) and beyond to Korea — Western Europe was a stage, not the terminus.
Resolution. Western-Europe-centrism was the providential structure through 1918. The Western European cascade (Reformation 1517 → French Revolution 1789 → WWI 1918) completed its providential role at WWI’s end. The same Ch 6B atomic on WWI (dp-wwi-as-formation-stage-with-kaiser-wilhelm-ii-as-adam-antitype-on-satans-side) marks 1918 as the enabling moment for the SA-birth; Ch 7 §1 (dp-second-advent-period-began-after-first-world-war) confirms the SA-period begins post-WWI; Ch 7 §3 specifies where the post-1918 providential center moves: Korea.
Implication for global-South Christianity. DP does not directly address the African / Latin American / Asian-Christian explosion post-1900 in Ch 7. But the framework provides a structural reading: Christianity’s global-South explosion can be read as the worldwide propagation of the Second-Israel Christian foundation outward from Western Europe, while the providential SA-center simultaneously re-centers to Korea (the Third-Israel locus). The two movements are not in conflict: Christian-cultural-sphere expansion globally + providential-center re-centering to Korea both fulfill the framework.
