Elaboration. This is one of SMM’s most provocative comparative-religion claims. “What is the relationship between Jesus and True Parents? Jesus is in the position of the Son, while True Parents are in the position of the Parents. I have said that Buddha is my disciple, Jesus is my disciple and Confucius is my disciple. Spiritual people can know everything if they pray” (2.9. The religious founders and True Parents).
The argument is positional, not biographical: Jesus brought salvation “by being sacrificed in the role of the son,” so “Jesus himself must have parents, and because Jesus did not have a son of his own, his authority as a parent must be restored.” Religious founders complete son-stage missions; True Parents complete the parent-stage mission that contains and resolves all son-missions.
From this SMM derives the ecclesial claim: “Our Unification Church is not a branch of Christianity but its main trunk.” The branch/trunk reversal is doctrinally consequential — it means UC is not a deviation from Christianity to be assessed by Christian orthodoxy, but the providential completion that Christianity has been awaiting. He extends this to Islam (sharing Divine Principle with Syrian leaders at East Garden) and reports that some Christian ministers secretly read DP under blankets.
The leaf-falling metaphor signals method: “Autumn leaves do not fall all at once… before long the tree, once clothed with green, is left with no leaves.” Established Christianity will be displaced not by frontal attack but by gradual defection. Evangelical critique typically engages on (a) the Christological reduction of Jesus to son-position, (b) the implicit denial of Jesus’s divine parentage in the Trinitarian sense, and (c) whether disciple-claim is consistent with SMM’s own claim to have inherited Jesus’s unfinished mission.
