Claim. Women bear the bulk of the sacrifice that gives life to the world, and God holds a special gratitude toward them for it.
Elaboration. While pregnant and too weary to read, the pastor looked through pictures of True Father and Mother Moon’s young family and unexpectedly began to cry, sensing God say, ‘Do you know how grateful I am to women?’ (Transcript, 42:54–42:58). The reason she heard: ‘Women have given birth to every one of God’s children throughout history’ (ibid, 43:04–43:08), and though God ‘would have no children without men or women,’ ‘the women take on the bulk of the sacrifice for giving life to this world’ (ibid, 43:10–43:20). She adds that even when women ‘don’t always feel they’re doing it for God, this is what we’re doing it for’ (ibid, 43:29–43:34).
Significance. Childbirth is read as a paradigm case of life-giving sacrifice — hidden, costly, and specially honored by God.
