Summary. Sun Myung Moon (1920 – September 2012) founded the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity (HSA-UWC, “Unification Church”) in Seoul in 1954. With his wife Hak Ja Han Moon, he is held by UC believers to be the True Parents — the messianic couple whose Blessing restores humanity’s fallen lineage and inaugurates a global culture of peace. He authored or inspired the corpus of UC scripture (Divine Principle, Cheon Seong Gyeong, numerous published speeches and sermons) and founded a wide network of para-church organizations spanning interfaith, education, business, and peace work.
