Claim. God endowed humans with creativity conditionally — they would inherit it only by fulfilling their portion of responsibility through the growth period, establishing the condition that they had participated in God’s creation of the universe, which is why God did not interfere with Adam and Eve’s behavior after giving the commandment.

Elaboration. Lee builds the argument in stages (C. A Being of Creativity):

(1) Dominion requires creativity-qualification: “In its original meaning, dominion may be exercised over something only by the person who made that thing.” Humans cannot by their own will dominate creation since God made it. But as God’s children they may inherit parental property and rights upon maturity.

(2) Inheritance condition: God set the condition that Adam and Eve perfect themselves through fulfilling their responsibility — “whereby the condition would be regarded as equivalent to their having participated in God’s creation.” Because humans are the integration of all things (microcosm), the value of one perfected human equals the value of the entire universe; their self-perfection counts as participating in cosmic creation.

(3) Non-interference principle: “After God gave them this commandment, He did not interfere with their behavior. The reason for this is because, if God had interfered, then God Himself would have ignored the human portion of responsibility, which would have resulted in the contradiction that He would be allowing an unqualified Adam and Eve to exercise dominion over creation.”

This is one of the load-bearing UT statements of the believers-responsibility doctrine, citing DP (p. 78) for the formula that creativity is inherited “by accomplishing their own portion of responsibility until the end of their growing period.”

(4) The commandment’s content: God’s prohibition on eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil “meant they were not to engage in sexual love before the proper time” (DP, 60) — the fall’s content was premature/misdirected sexual love, not metaphor.

(5) Fall consequence: Failure to comply meant humanity never inherited the qualification to exercise dominion. Subsequent human “creativity” became self-centered — individual interest, family interest, national interest — producing environmental destruction, weapons of mass destruction, and indifference to others. The remedy is recovering original heart-centered creativity, which is why scientists must first be persons of character. Rev. Moon’s ICUS is the institutional embodiment.
