Claim. God’s creativity — the ability to create based on Heart — consists in forming two-stage developmental four-position foundations: first the inner four-position foundation (Logos emerges from give-and-take between Inner Sungsang and Inner Hyungsang centered on purpose), then the outer (all things are created through give-and-take between Logos and Original Hyungsang centered on the same purpose).
Elaboration. Lee defines creativity not as raw generative power but as a specific procedural ability (C. A Being of Creativity). The two-stage structure:
Stage 1 (inner): Within the Original Image, give-and-take occurs between Inner Sungsang and Inner Hyungsang, centered on a purpose established by Heart. The result is Logos — the plan/design.
Stage 2 (outer): Give-and-take occurs between Logos and the Original Hyungsang, centered on the same purpose. The result is the created thing.
This maps directly onto human creative activity: humans first establish a purpose, then make a design or plan (inner give-and-take), then produce the thing on the basis of that design (outer give-and-take). Engineering, art, architecture, even daily project work follows the same template because it is structurally inherited from God’s own creative procedure.
The theological consequence: human creativity is not autonomous self-expression but participation in a divine structural pattern. When done correctly — centered on heart, with God’s love as motivation — it constitutes “dominion over the creation with love.” Dominion includes managing, processing, preserving material objects and human partners, covering primary/secondary/tertiary industries, politics, art, and science.
The failure mode: when fallen humans create without heart at the center, they still use the two-stage structure (purpose → plan → execution) but the motivating purpose becomes self-interest rather than love. The structure remains; the content corrupts. This produces technically advanced civilization that destroys nature and produces weapons of mass destruction — sophisticated creativity in service of unsophisticated motives.
This is why Lee insists ethics must precede science institutionally: not because scientific method is flawed but because the heart-motivation that should orient the two-stage process has been lost. ICUS attempts to restore the missing center while leaving the method intact.
