Claim. Adam and Eve were created as the substantial body through which the invisible God exercises dominion over the world of substance — Adam as God incarnate and Eve as the wife of God incarnate.
Elaboration. SMM presents human creation as an incarnation problem: “For the invisible God to exercise dominion over the world of substance, He had to have a substantial form, namely a body, through which He would then be able to see and hear; hence, He created Adam to become His embodiment” (CSG 15.1 §3, 22-279, 1969.5.4). And: “Eve was Adam’s wife, the wife of the substantial form. If Adam was to be God incarnate, then Eve was to be the wife of God incarnate.” A complementary formulation: “God, who exists as the invisible Subject of dual characteristics, manifested His internal masculinity to become substantially visible through Adam as His counterpart and manifested His internal femininity substantially through Eve” (143-80, 1986.3.16). The unfallen Adam and Eve would have been a substantial vehicle for divine dominion — the same vocation Christology later relocates onto a single Adam.
