Claim. America stands in the position of world-level Rome — Britain’s son in the archangel/eldest-son nation role — and is providentially responsible for attending the True Parents and loving humanity more than its own people; otherwise its mission is forfeited.
Elaboration. SMM positions America as the indemnity counterpart of Rome under Jesus: “America is a nation in the same position as Rome… After Jesus died on the cross, all of the disciples focused on Rome. In the same way, we have to restore those circumstances through indemnity. We must not be chased away from here or killed. Instead, but we must be welcomed and launch a movement that will establish the heavenly nation here” (5.3. The mission of America as the world-level Rome, 134-206, 1985.7.20). The Korea-America-Israel-Rome quadrant is mapped: “Korea and America are in a relationship similar to that of Israel and Rome… America was not in a position to destroy a country similar to Israel as it was at the time of the Roman Empire. Instead, the United States created an opposite kind of era that allowed Korea to survive as a nation on God’s side” (ibid, 137-19, 1986.1.1). America’s vocation is therefore inverted from Rome’s: where Rome killed Jesus, America must welcome the returning Lord — or fail providentially.
