Claim. Within the church, Cain-Abel positions are not optional sociology but the working axis of restoration: Abel must love and naturally subjugate Cain through tears and blood, accepting being struck without retaliation, because Cain’s restoration is the precondition for parents and God to be liberated.
Elaboration. SMM gives Abel a three-stage mission: “What does Abel have to do? He has to restore three generations. First, Cain must be restored. Then, parents must be restored. Then God must be liberated” (9.2. Cain-Abel relationships between members, 58-68, 1972.6.6). The Abel posture is total non-retaliation: “Abel must love Cain. He must subjugate him naturally with love. He must stand in the position of loving him with tears and blood… Otherwise, Cain will not relent and restoration cannot be carried out” (ibid, 34-283, 1970.9.13). The position is chosen “in a place where Satan cannot accuse… the most sorrowful and difficult position. In other words, in the position where one is willing to die in the most miserable situation” (ibid, 34-51, 1970.8.29). Within members, the order has a horizontal layer (earlier-joiner is Abel relative to later-joiner) and a vertical layer (recent-joiner can be Abel toward an older member) (ibid, 49-214, 1971.10.10). The implication: members’ interpersonal frictions are providence’s terrain, not noise.
