Claim. The Unification Church’s distinguishing doctrine — what SMM calls its “central ideology” — is the conversion of lineage, the only mechanism by which fallen humanity can re-enter the realm of God’s heart.
Elaboration. SMM states the position plainly: “Of all the religions, only Christianity has placed importance on the lineage, and laid down the conversion of lineage as its main ideology. … That is why in the conversion of lineage, Father could not exclude Christianity. … Therefore, converting the lineage had to be the main emphasis of the central ideology” (2.3. The central ideology is the conversion of lineage, 227-349, 1992.2.16). The doctrinal reach is total: “Fallen human beings need conversion of their lineage. This is the fundamental issue. … The conversion of the lineage must be carried out on the levels of individual, family, people, nation and world. Only the Messiah can accomplish this” (ibid, 161-147, 1987.1.18). The Blessing is the vehicle: “To receive the Blessing is to completely cut off the evil lineage and to engraft a new lineage” (ibid, 35-178, 1970.10.13). Conversion of lineage is therefore the engine; Blessing is the gear.
