Claim. Every action, word, and intention of earthly life is recorded in detail by the conscience and replayed in the spirit-world without possibility of concealment.
Elaboration. SMM uses computer and video metaphors to convey total recall: “When you go to the spirit world you will find that your life has been completely recorded in the computer there. It will all be revealed. The conscience is like a computer file that is exhibited in the eternal world” (3.4. Our earthly life is recorded in detail, 246-188, 1993.4.16). The video does not just play scenes — it transcends time and space: “An ordinary video cannot go beyond the limitations of time and space, but the spiritual video transcends time and space. Just with one click, your entire life, all your past years, are projected” (ibid, 163-308, 1987.5.1). The recording is involuntary and self-executing: when reviewing, “no one will tell you where to go. Each person finds where he is to go by him or herself … pushed along beyond your will” (ibid). The doctrinal stake is that fearful consequences follow from careless earthly living, because “your present life tells you what to expect in the next life” (ibid, 294-9, 1998.6.5).
