Claim. The path of restoration cannot be walked sideways or by detour; the filial son is the one who, like True Father, goes straight no matter what cost — even appearing “a bit stupid” — because God has been going straight toward humankind for six thousand years.
Elaboration. SMM glosses his own life as a single-track devotion modelled for members to inherit: “What kind of person am I? I am a person with only one talent. I am a person who just goes straight ahead no matter what… It is because we cannot go straight if we are pulled by our love for our physical parents. Since God has been going straight towards us, we also have to go straight” (3.2. The path of a filial son, 97-257, 1978.3.19). The directional metaphor is paired with affective intensity: “You have to long for God until your eyes feel like crumbling and your nose is full and stuffy” (ibid, 50-288, 1971.11.8) and willingness to die — “You must love God with your life. If you love Him with your life, then, until your death, you can do anything” (ibid, 37-25, 1970.12.22). True Father describes himself as the substitute God sent because no place on earth could hold God’s heart directly (ibid, 60-212, 1972.8.17). The filial-son path is therefore a posture of unbroken alignment, not a sequence of acts.
