Elaboration. Book11 opens by extending the doctrine of dual-characteristics one step beyond standard DP exposition: the unified Subject is not held together by structure but by love. SMM presses for the addition: “He is the Subject with dual characteristics in a union of harmony as well as the Subject of love. The word love must be added to the description without fail” (1.1. God is the Original Being having unified dual characteristics, 223-160, 1991.11.10). Earlier in the same section: “Even God has based His very existence on true love” (ibid, 193-303, 1989.10.8); “It should be added in the Divine Principle that God is the source of true love. It should be clear that nobody but myself can amend the Divine Principle” (ibid, 224-228, 1991.11.24). The implication is that the masculine/feminine harmony within God is not symmetrical — masculinity occupies the subject position, but love is what makes that position joyful and stable.
