Elaboration. SMM says individuals must first unite mind and body so God can dwell in them, and then a man and woman who receive the blessing and share perfect love appear to God “like a flower that has blossomed on earth” (CSG 4.7 §4, Blessed Family 887). The harmonies of their love are “like a fragrance to God.” God’s favorite melody is the laughter of an eternal married couple who rejoice together and embrace the universe. The section’s reciprocity examples, including echo-like speech between spouses, show why conjugal love is not abstract: God delights in embodied mutual response.
