Claim. SMM frames God not merely as a being who loves but as the ontological source from which every form of love — parental, conjugal, filial, fraternal — radiates, with God’s love functioning as the vertical axis onto which all horizontal human love must engraft at a perpendicular.
Elaboration. The source claim is stated plainly: “God is the original source of love. It is from here that parental love, conjugal love, children’s love, brotherly love, the love of blood relatives and the love of an ethnic people have emerged” (1.1. Love originates from God, 50-267, 1971.11.8). The same passage equates God’s substance with love: “It is said that God is the original being of truth, the original being of goodness, the original being of love” (ibid, 21-183, 1968.11.20).
The vertical-horizontal geometry is then made explicit: “If God’s love is the vertical love, the love of a man and a woman is a horizontal love. If a man and a woman are to meet, they must engraft their horizontal love onto the vertical love. It must join at a ninety-degree angle. A love that does not fit this … will end up as a nomadic love and be destroyed” (ibid, 136-203, 1985.12.29).
The implication: human loves are not autonomous emotional states but derived projections of one divine axis. Detaching horizontal love from the vertical destabilizes it categorically, not just morally.
