Claim. God’s ideal of creation is identical with the completion of the four-position-foundation — God, Adam-Eve, and children united in true love — and Pledge 1 commits the family to building exactly this structure.

Elaboration. SMM reduces God’s will to a single doctrinal answer: “What is God’s will? It is true love. It means to accomplish the ideal of creation. What does it mean to achieve the ideal of God’s creation? It means to complete the four-position foundation” (1.4. The original ideal of creation, 276-253 1996.2.24). He repeats the formula and adds the centering principle: “What is God’s will? God’s will is the perfection of the ideal of creation. … Then what does completion of the ideal of creation mean? It means accomplishing the four-position foundation. What is the completion of the four-position foundation? It is the perfection of the ideal of love. What kind of love is that? It is true love” (247-116 1993.5.1). The four-position foundation is therefore not a doctrinal sub-section but the entire content of Pledge 1’s “the original ideal of creation” — the structural object the family is pledging to build.
