Claim. The Four Great Realms of Heart — child, sibling, spouse, parent — are not perfected sequentially over a life span but together, at the consummation of marriage, when all four bear fruit at the same point.
Elaboration. SMM ties the perfection of all four realms to a single event: “When are the children, siblings, couple and parents, these Four Great Realms of Heart, perfected in oneness? The point at which two people who are centered on God marry and consummate their first love as a couple is the point where all levels of perfection bear fruit, and is itself the center of all those levels of perfection. In this sense, marriage is the union of heaven, earth and humankind” (3.1. The Four Great Realms of Heart, 259-42 1994.3.27). The doctrinal point is that the four realms are facets of one structure, not stages of one trajectory: “The four great hearts do not exist separated from one another. All the fruits of these realms are harvested at the time when Adam and Eve are married. This, then, is the perfection of God, and at the same time, the place where Adam and Eve achieve perfection as a couple and as parents starting from the position of child and brother or sister” (264-195 1994.10.9). The blessing ceremony is therefore the point of the entire family-theology engine — not just a wedding rite.
