Claim. Pledge 1 says “build” the Kingdom of Heaven, not “perfect” it — the verb choice signals that everything lost at the fall must be re-created from scratch by Blessed Families, not merely refined.
Elaboration. SMM stresses the verb deliberately: “What is pledge number one of the Family Pledge? ‘Seek our original homeland…by centering on true love.’ We must seek out our original homeland. We are not pledging to perfect ‘the Kingdom of God on earth and in heaven, the original ideal of creation…’ We must build it. We must do so with our own hands. We must recover it entirely from the world of the devil” (1.3. Seeking our original homeland, 261-88 1994.5.22). He continues elsewhere: “Why do we use the word ‘build’ here? It is because we must create this anew. It will not come about by itself. We must make it. As hell on earth and hell in the spirit world have come about, we must work to re-create the Kingdom of God” (1.5. Building the Kingdom of God on earth and in heaven, 260-304 1994.5.19). The Kingdom is therefore the family’s restoration project, not a passive inheritance — Pledge-1 makes the family the agent of its own indemnity-completed construction.
