Claim. Through marriage, a couple inherits three of God’s prerogatives — His love, His creative power (re-creation through children), and His right of dominion over creation.
Elaboration. §3.3.1 specifies what marriage actually confers, in a passage SMM marks as “Of all blessings, the most precious is God’s love. Next is inheriting God’s creative power. Just as God created Adam and Eve, we are given the power to create through the children we give birth to… Next, God bestowed upon us the right of dominion… Therefore, we should understand that at the moment we are married, we inherit God’s love, the power of re-creation and the right of dominion in the realm of perfection. Hence, marriage refers not only to the fulfillment of love, but also to inheritance of rights over creation and dominion” (3.3. Why marriage is important, 76-45, 1975.1.26). The implication is that the blessing is functionally an investiture: ordinary believers, through blessed marriage, are constituted as inheritors of divine prerogatives, not merely as recipients of forgiveness. This sharpens what is at stake when true-parents confer the Blessing.
