Parents love from the bone marrow, not merely by deliberate decision, because a life-bond has arisen with the child. God is the same kind of being: not a merchant calculating exchange, but one who “gives and gives everything” while still feeling ashamed He has not given enough (36-290, 1970.12.13). Parents who sacrifice for children stand in God’s position, since God does not invest Himself for His own sake. Love, life, and hope are realized where parents give themselves completely and are bound to their children.
