Claim. Parental love continues through a child’s whole life and even into eternity.
Elaboration. SMM asks whether parental love has a limit and answers that parents love children not only in childhood but “throughout the child’s entire life, and even into eternity” (CSG 4.8 §6, 32-12, 1970.6.14). Parental love is called “the mother of all kinds of love” and is the love orphans thirst for most (Blessed Family 1017). Parents may have a seventy-year-old son and still look at him as they did when raising him. Even babies who drain a mother’s flesh and blood are not treated as enemies; they open new hope and realization. The bond is unchangeable because parental love does not diminish with age or cost.
