Elaboration. SMM asks where love comes from and answers: “From yourself? No. Love comes from parents” (CSG 4.2 §3, 50-134, 1971.11.6). Even a strong or brilliant child must bow before parents because “parents are the subject partners, and children are the object partners.” This is not presented as social etiquette but as “the Principle of Heaven.” The same section says a person without parental love is miserable because the ideal manifestation of love is parents. Power and knowledge may dominate public life, but in the home the power of love outranks both. The family order trains the person to receive love as a gift before exercising strength or authority.
