Claim. Book08 reads democratic brotherhood as an unstable equilibrium — siblings fighting over a missing parent — that must give way to the right of the parent and ultimately the right of kingship, with God as King of kings.
Elaboration. SMM diagnoses democracy as structurally incomplete: “In the democratic world, there is no real concept of king, is there? The democratic world is based on the concept of brotherhood… but people in the world ruled by this doctrine fight with each other… What is the purpose of this? They are each trying to gain the right of kingship” (4.3. Restoration of the right of kingship, 205-172, 1990.9.1). The resolution requires the parental office: “The democratic political system is a system of struggle. That is why we have to rise to the position of parents. Only then can the struggle be stopped” (ibid, 205-190, 1990.9.1). The vertical pyramid runs all the way up: “True Parents are the king and queen of a family. The family will come together with other families to automatically form a tribe. Then a king of the tribe will appear… All these kings are connected, all the way to up to God. So God becomes the King of kings” (ibid, 205-189, 1990.9.1). This is the political-theology core of Book08.
