Claim. True people are sustained by an infinite background of heart that supplies them with direction; once they reach the center of the realm of heart, the whole universe cooperates with the path they choose.
Elaboration. “When people follow their original mind, the whole universe will open up before them … the way they should go definitely would be laid down before them, and so all the forces in the universe would help them follow it” (5.1. The path people should seek, 120-313, 1982.10.20). The background is not metaphor: “Once you have risen to such a level through your own efforts, everything would be taken care of thenceforth.” The realm of heart has an internal kinetic structure: “When you reach the center of the realm of heart, you will find it in motion up and down … the core of the realm of heart also moves up and down centering on its axis.” Decision-making and devotional life (“you need to whet a knife all the time”) sit on top of this substrate. The implication: agency is real but operates downstream of a heart-realm to be cultivated, not a moral will starting from scratch.
