Claim. The original mind stands in the place of parents, teacher, and God simultaneously — it is the “vertical you” dispatched by God to indwell the person, and the body’s contempt for it is the central human problem.

Elaboration. “The original mind has three great personas. It can be the master, teacher, or parent” (4.3. The original mind is the teacher and closest to God, 201-154, 1990.3.30). The vertical identification is direct: “The original mind stands in God’s stead, and is the teacher of all teachers for you. Your original mind is your center, dispatched by God on His behalf. It is the vertical you” (ibid, 226-60, 1992.2.1). SMM diagnoses the conflict as misdirected love rather than ordinary weakness: “The treacherous body has treated this teacher contemptuously, although it was the one and only honorable teacher sent to you by God and the universe” (ibid, 201-353, 1990.4.30). The implication: anthropology is tripartite-positional — body, original mind, vertical God — and the body’s revolt against the original mind is the structural location of the Fall, repeated in each life.
