Claim. DP explicitly grounds the cross-was-not-Plan-A doctrine in the Mosaic course’s structural pattern: just as Moses’s prolongations and substitute-objects were caused by Israelite faithlessness rather than predestination, Jesus’s crucifixion and the need for his return were not originally predestined but caused by Jewish faithlessness.

Elaboration. dp-3-the-providence-of-restoration-under-the-leadership-of-jesus §3.3.1 makes the inference explicit at the close of the spiritual-foundation discussion: “the delays in God’s providence were not predetermined, but were caused by people’s faithlessness. Likewise, Jesus’ crucifixion and the need for his return were not originally predestined by God.”

This atomic supplies the NEW structural-argument grounding for the existing cross-was-not-Plan-A cluster (Ch 4). Where Ch 4’s atomics establish the claim via Jesus’s own words, the disciples’ grief, and God’s preparation of Israel, Ch 3 §3 grounds it differently — via the Mosaic-course’s contingency structure:

  • Moses’s failures (Egyptian-killing aborted, rock struck twice, golden-calf episode) were each caused by Israelite (or Moses’s own) faithlessness, not by divine predestination.
  • The Tabernacle, Ark, and tablets were Plan-B objects, not Plan-A; the Temple was Plan-C; the Messiah’s coming in flesh was the original Plan-A.
  • The 40-year wilderness wandering was an indemnity penalty (Num 14:34), not a planned duration. The course’s prolongation was contingent.

By structural induction, Jesus’s course — which DP repeatedly emphasizes follows Moses’s model — also exhibits contingent prolongations and substitute-objects. The cross’s necessity arose from JtB’s faithlessness and Jewish-leadership rejection, not from eternal divine plan. The post-resurrection spiritual ministry is Plan-B for the substantial Kingdom; the Second Advent is the substantial completion that Plan-A had originally intended in Jesus’s day.

The argument adds structural inevitability to the existing Ch 4 cluster: if the Mosaic course’s contingency-shape is granted, the Jesus-course’s contingency follows by parallel.
